Empowering Futures Through Education Scholarships
Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities. Recognizing this, The Ed Stelmach Community Foundation (ESCF) has supported graduating high school students in their journey into post-secondary education through its scholarship program.
A Commitment to Education
The ESCF Scholarship was created in 2015 to support students who demonstrate perseverance through difficult situations, are committed and involved in their community, and have clearly determined and outlined their future goals. The scholarship is geared towards students who may require financial assistance, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing young talent and guiding them towards a brighter future.
Scholarship Details
Each year, the ESCF awards three scholarships, each valued at $2,750. To be eligible, applicants must be completing Grade 12 at a public or Catholic high school in specific towns and cities, including Lamont, Two Hills, Fort Saskatchewan, New Myrnam, Tofield, Viking, and Vegreville. (Note: These schools serve students that live in the area that was within the provincial constituency served by former Premier Ed Stelmach when he served as MLA from 1993 to 2011.) Applicants must also be accepted into a post-secondary institution, have a mark of 80% or higher in Social Studies, and write a 500-word essay addressing their future goals, community involvement, life instances of perseverance, and need for financial assistance.
Impact and Reach
The ESCF Scholarship has had a significant impact on the lives of many students, enabling them to pursue their educational dreams and contribute positively to their communities. With the scholarship program now having been in place for a decade, its benefit is now clearly evident.
Conclusion
The Ed Stelmach Community Foundation continues to play a vital role in supporting education and empowering the next generation of leaders. By providing financial assistance to deserving students, the ESCF is helping to build a brighter future for Alberta and beyond.
