The goal of The Ed Stelmach Community Foundation has always been to provide assistance to the disadvantaged through small and highly motivated Alberta charities. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis by our Board of Directors. Realizing that there are many worthy organizations to support, we have chosen to focus our efforts on assisting those groups with the following characteristics:

1. The organization must be a charitable organization as defined by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA number, organization in good standing from a compliance and reporting standpoint).

2. Preference is given to smaller Alberta-based organizations that do not have  a large public profile, and where a very high percentage of revenue goes directly into operations.  Although we respect and appreciate the work of larger charities, this is not our focus.

3. The organization must benefit at least one of the following groups or activities: (a) children and families, particularly those disadvantaged by illness or low income, (b) medical rehabilitation, including that for military service personnel and senior citizens, or (c) assisting the homeless through supporting housing programs or reintroduction to the workplace via skills training and education

4. Prospective applicant organizations must provide:
a) a cover letter, containing a description of the organization, and the intended use of funds (if possible, an expected outcome or impact of the funding),
b) at least two (preferably three) years of historical annual financial statements, and
c) a list of current executive and board members

Hardcopy submissions are acceptable, but emailed applcations are greatly preferred; we actively encourage applicants to email their submissions to info@edstelmachfoundation.com . Please note that due to the volume of applications, only successful applicants will be notified.  Please refer any questions by email.
